There are lots of summer activities:

Golf, Tennis , Swimming, Kayaking and Fishing right on the Whiteface Club property . 

Hiking- an easy hike is to town on the Jack Rabbit trail ask at the golf pro shop where to access the trail. A slightly harder hike is to the Placid Lean-to, this takes about 30 minutes one way. You can add to this hike by various branches check out the guide books for Mt. McKenzie hikes, these start across Whiteface Inn lane from the Olympic Condos. Of course there are many other hikes in the area, for those that want to climb one of Adirondack 46 high peaks ( those over 4000 ft.)  you have Cascade the lowest and Marcy the highest just a short car ride away. For the less adventurous you can drive up to almost the top of Whiteface mountain ( one of the 46 ) and make the final 1/4 mile on foot or take the elevator.

Boat tour of Lake Placid- take a boat tour of lake placid

Water Skiing- you can rent boats at the public marina on lake placid.


You can start at Sandbrook Duo if everyone is a strong biker, or put the bikes in the car and drive to Bear Cub Road. To start biking ,Ride up Whiteface Inn Rd to the top and make a right onto 86. Go a short distance past the Price Chopper and make  left onto Carolyn Road, follow that road to Old Military Road, follow this past the Lake Placid Elementary School and make a right onto Bear Cub Road, After a few houses the road becomes quite empty, ride past or stop at the Cornell Sugar Maple facility on the right. It s self guided, and you can buy maple syrup! Take Bear Cub Road to the end and come back and have your picnic lunch at Heaven Hill Trails . Get back to Old  Military Road , make a right and follow the signs to John Browns Farm. Take the tour, watch the movie,and pay your respects at the graveyard.  Still have some energy?Go to the the Olympic Ski Jumps and enjoy the view! Head home or to town for some refreshments!


Olympic venues- get an Olympic pass and see the winter Olympic venues. In the summer you can ride the Gondola up Whiteface Mounain and if you want you can mountain bike down. Go to the Ski jumps and watch ski jumpers and free style jumpers train. Out at Mt. Von Hoevenberg you can do mountain bike trail riding or shoot biathlon targets.

Music Concerts- the town has a bandshell on Mirror lake in the center of town. Summer and Fall there are many concerts held there from rock to symphony check out for concerts and the many other events that occur in town.

Horseshow- June 28 to July 10 the Lake Placid Horse show and the I love New York Horse show are held on the horse show grounds just outside of town.

Lake Placid Cultural Center- a variety of entertainment is provided by at the cultural center check out there website for

PenDragon Theater- a short drive to Saranac Lake take in a play check out what is playing go to

Palace Theater- catch the latest movies in this unique venue 2430 Main St. 518-523-9271
Wild Center- Tupper Lake if you have kids this is a must see, walk through the trees see the nativie wild life and more
